Two years after investigations into allegations surrounding Walesi began, the case file remains with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), with Government confirming the matter is still under investigation.

Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua confirmed the status of the investigation in Parliament in response to questions from Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu.

Mr Seruiratu sought an update on the probe, which began two years ago over allegations of excessive spending and irregularities in the operations of Walesi.

He also questioned the progress of the investigation, noting concerns over the continued use of taxpayers' money without any publicly known outcome.

Mr Naivalurua initially proposed providing a separate briefing on the matter but confirmed the investigation had not been completed.

"Work is still being done to further investigate the matter," the Minister told Parliament.

The Walesi investigation has attracted significant public interest, with questions continuing to be raised about its progress and when it will be concluded.

No timeframe was provided on when FICAC is expected to complete its investigations or whether any charges are likely to result.
