Women MPs To Work With The Speaker On National Women's Caucus

Women Parliamentarians aim to working with the Speaker of the House Ratu Epeli Nailatikau in forming a National Women’s Caucus.

Opposition member Salote Radrodro said this was one of the lesson from their New Zealand study trip last week.

The trip was part of efforts to further boost the knowledge of eight women parliamentarian on parliamentary procedures.

“We had a very good exposure, exposure in the sense of how the New Zealand Parliament runs,” she said.

She added forming the National Women’s caucus would look at addressing pertinent issues like elimination of violence against women and children at national level which was again addressed in the last Parliament sitting.

The caucus would also be advancing on women interests.

Mrs Radrodro said they were thankful to have met the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and other New Zealand Women MP’s during the trip and that they learnt a lot.
