Worker Sent Back To Fiji After Having An Affair

Fiji has recorded its first dis­ciplinary case under the Pacific Labour Mobility scheme where a man was caught having extramarital affairs.

Minister for Employment, Parveen Bala, said that a woman complained to him upon learning her husband was with another woman in Australia.

“We investigated the claim and made sure that he got on the first flight back home,” the minister said.

Mr Bala declined to disclose fur­ther details on the issue.

While addressing 198 Fijians, due to leave the country soon for various work abroad, Mr Bala said their family should always be on their minds.

“Remember the faces of those you love,” he said.

“Australia is a big country.

“You will be well looked after.”

More than 6000 Fijians have ben­efited from the scheme.

Mr Bala said moving fam­ily members of seasonal workers abroad was in its consultation stage.

He said it would only ap­ply to workers who have been contracted for years.
