Apenisa Kurisaqila plans to put the $102,328.71 lease security bonus payment from the Fiji Pine Group to good use.
He said the payment he received on Friday would assist the Yavusa (tribe) Noi Vatuma from Nawaqadamu, Nadi, to build more homes for young men in their community.
The 56-year-old received the bonus payout on behalf of the respective Mataqali (Clan) of Bila, Drasa and Qelelevu of the Yavusa Noi Vatuma from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, who officiated at the Fiji Pine Limited lease security bonus payment of $6 million at the Tropik Wood Drasa mill complex in Lautoka to 20 pine landowners from Nabou, Lololo, Ra and Nadi.

“I am thankful for today when we received the lease money of $102,328.71 and of course, there are plans in place for its use,” Mr Kurisaqila said.
The father of four said the decision was for 30 per cent of the payout to be equally shared while 70 per cent would be directed to fund the developments.

“It’s best that we get their homes built because our young men are growing up. Last year we managed to get some homes built and we got vehicles from the lease money we got from Fiji Pine.”
