SODELPA unveils first batch of proposed candidates

The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has unveiled its first batch of proposed candidates for the 2026 General Election, with party leader and Member of Parliament Aseri Radrodro leading a team of professionals, educators, businesspeople, youth representatives and community leaders.

The proposed candidates were announced during the party's annual general meeting at Suvavou Village, Lami, attended by more than 170 members and supporters.

The first batch of proposed candidates includes:

  • Simione Drole – Civil Engineer and Lawyer
  • Hon. Aseri Radrodro – Member of Parliament and Party Leader
  • Varinava Tiko – Director Operations, Naveivatu; former New Generation Party leader
  • Victor Fatiaki – Rotuman community maritime executive
  • Pate Nunu – Public sector executive
  • Taitusi Vakadravuyaca
  • Hazrak Ali – Property management professional
  • Viliame Takayawa – Former SODELPA general secretary
  • Volotu Vika – Educationist
  • Umesh Chand
  • Joni Damaya – Geologist
  • AnnMary Raduva – Climate and environmental advocate
  • Lavenia Dakua – Educationist and women's leadership advocate

  • Vishwa Dip Karan – Businessman
  • Ro Iva Loki – Community leader, finance and auditing expert

Among the proposed candidates is 22-year-old AnnMary Raduva, a climate and environmental advocate from Viwa, Bau, Tailevu.

Ms Raduva said it was important for young people to be involved in shaping the country's future.

"It is our future we are talking about. It is important for youths to participate..."

In his address, Mr Radrodro reflected on SODELPA's contribution over the past three and a half years in Government and called on members and supporters to unite, strengthen the movement and prepare for victory in the 2026 General Election.

He said the proposed team brought together experienced leaders, professionals, business owners, educators, youth representatives and respected community leaders committed to serving all the people of Fiji with integrity, unity and dedication.

The annual general meeting also considered reports from the party president, party leader and general secretary, the audited financial report, updates from the constituency, women's and youth forums, and the appointment of party auditors and officers.

SODELPA said the proposed candidates shared the party's vision of building "a stronger, fairer and more prosperous Fiji for every citizen."
