Major shipping operators have cancelled trips across key routes as deteriorating weather conditions linked to an approaching system disrupt maritime travel.

Goundar Shipping Limited (GSL) confirmed all sailings would be cancelled from 9am on Tuesday, citing safety concerns for passengers, crew and vessels.

“Due to deteriorating weather conditions, all sailings will be cancelled,” the company said in a public notice, urging residents—especially those in coastal and flood-prone areas—to remain cautious.

Interlink Shipping Line Pte Limited also announced widespread cancellations, stating that all trips were suspended until further notice.

In an announcement today, the company said its last trip would be the one departing Nabouwalu at 6pm.

"To our valued customers, due to adverse weather conditions, all scheduled trips for Tuesday, 07 April on the Natovi–Nabouwalu, Ellington–Nabouwalu, and Suva–Savusavu–Taveuni routes have been cancelled, as passenger safety remains our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

Passengers have been advised to follow updates on the company’s official channels, while some limited movements earlier in the day were also affected.
