The Mega Superyacht Berth expansion at the Port Denarau Marina in Nadi, is a symbol of confidence, says the Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka.

Mr Gavoka said it reflected ambition to lead in the Pacific and commitment to delivering growth and opportunity for the Fijian people.

He made the comments while officiating at the Mega Superyacht Berth launch at Port Denarau Marina on Friday.

He said this was a proud milestone for Fiji, for Denarau, and for the maritime future in the Pacific - this $6 million project has added seven new berths to Port Denarau.

Among them is Fiji’s first mega yacht berth, designed for vessels up to 115 metres, the first of its kind in the South Pacific.

“With this development, the marina now has a total of 62 berths, including 27 dedicated to superyachts over 24 metres,” Mr Gavoka said.

“This places Fiji in a leadership position in maritime tourism across the Pacific.

"The expansion includes a 203-meter jetty extension and dredging within the marina basin for safe navigation,” he said.

Superyachts represent high-value tourism and assist communities as well.

“Each vessel that enters our waters contributes directly to jobs, income, and opportunities for our people.

"The benefits flow to hospitality, retail, transport, and marine services.

“They support local suppliers and strengthen Fiji’s broader economy.

"This expansion consolidates Fiji’s standing as the leading super yacht hub in the South Pacific. It ensures that our communities see lasting benefits from this important sector.

He added that none of this would be possible without collaboration.

“This project reflects the determination of local investors, the confidence of international partners, and the support of Government.

"It shows that when we work together, we can deliver projects that elevate Fiji’s reputation and bring long-term value,” he said.

He said it is part of a broader vision to grow tourism and aviation in ways that are inclusive, sustainable, and resilient.

“We are creating an environment where investors have confidence, where communities are partners, and where projects like this drive opportunities for all Fijians.”

Port Denarau Marina board member Malakai Nayaga said, “This is more than infrastructure - it’s an investment in Fiji’s future as a leading superyacht destination in the South Pacific.”
