Wainimala Secondary School's Daina Sauvaga defied all odds to win the junior girl's 1500 metres final during the Triple N Zone competition at the National Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Speaking to SUNsports, SauÂvaga said that she was not expecting to win the junior girls 1500m final.
"I usually come second or third, but I thank the Lord for his protection and giving me the strength to win," the 15-year-old said.

Koroirara said he is looking forward to the Fiji Finals and is confident of winning another gold medal for the school.
He also acknowledged the support from his school and family.
Koroirara hails from Natavea, Wainimala, Naitasiri.
