2019 Coke Games: Lighting Torch Fires Up Adi Cakobau School Duo

The launch of the 2019 Coca- Cola Games torch relay boosted the morale of defend­ing girls’ champions Adi Cakobau School long distance runners.

The duo Liviana Kula and Vani Loloma had the honours to light the torch during the launch at Co­ca-Cola Amatil Fiji office at Laucala Beach, Nasinu yesterday.

Loloma, who won gold in the sen­ior girls 800m final at the 2018 Coca- Cola Games, strongly feels laying her hands on the torch has fired her up for annual event on April 16-18 at the ANZ Stadium.

“ It’s an honour for me to be part of this launching and given the opportunity to light the torch is a dream come true for me.

“I know the competition this year will be different from last year, it will be tough but I’m preparing well for that,” she said.

The Natuvu, Cakaudrove native is adamant with her two other events.

“I will also be running in the 400m and 4x400m relay and I hope to run the best time in the Triple N Zone and the Coke Games,” she added.

Her teammate Narokorokoyawa, Naitasiri native Kula said; “We are doing well in our training and we hope for the best.”

Roger Hare

Coca-Cola Amital (FIJI) Ltd gen­eral manager Roger Hare said; “We are proud to work with co-sponsors to run the Coca-Cola Games. The organisers do a lot of work and their commitment in making this game successful.

“This is my fourth game, looking forward to it and may the best team win,” he said.

Fiji Gas

Fiji Gas Ltd sales and marketing manager Vanessa Kilner said; “It’s an absolute honour for us to part­ner with this particicular torch re­lay, carrying the torch is a symbol for unity and togetherness.

“For those that cannot be part of the games, taking this torch to each corner of the country is the show of pride,” Kilner said.

The torch will travel to the Lau group tonight.
