Marist Brothers ready to defend Coca-Cola Games title

Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) has turned their focus on defending the boy's title of the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Finals (known as the Coca-Cola Games).

Speaking to SUNsports yesterdayafter winning the boy's division of the Suva Zone Two, MBHS athlet­ics captain Benidito Turaganit­abua said they are ready to give their all.

"I know it will be a tough one. This is before we're holding the title. I know the boys will defend it and we will do our best," he said.

Turaganitabua acknowledged the effort showed by their rivals Suva Grammar School who fin­ished second.

"I thank the Lord for giving us the strength to overcome this mighty Grammar team," the 18-year-old said.

Speaking to SUNSports yesterday Turaganitabua said that on the first day they were planning to win 15 medals. He indicated that this was due to the statistics set by their coaches.

"We went back and reviewed our performance. We regathered, re­grouped, and refocused on today's events. I just told the boys that we're not here to participate but to do the job," he said.

Turaganitabua said that motivat­ed them to seal the win. He urged all former scholars of MBHS for their support.

"Please do come out in numbers and cheer us at the Coca-Cola games," he said.

MEDAL STANDINGS
MBHS claimed first place with 26 gold medals, 24 silver, 15 bronze followed by Suva Grammar School with 19 gold, 13 silver, 16 bronze medals while Lomary Secondary School finished third with 3 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze medals.

In the girl's division Suva Gram­mar finished on top with 25 gold medals, 17 silver, 18 bronze. St Joseph's Secondary School came in second with 14 gold, 15 silver, 10 bronze medals while Lomary Sec­ondary School came third with 4 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze medals.
