Since ANZAC Day this year falls on a Monday (April25) the Denarau Games and Sports Fishing Club is commemorating the day on Saturday.
“It is a popular event and is always well attended by members, we are moving it forward as everyone is free on the weekend,” DGSFC secretary Clayton George said.
“The one day event is a special event on our calendar,” he said.
ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the first key military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The troops in those forces became known as Anzacs, and the pride in the name endures to this day.
Signing in for the one-day game fishing event is on tomorrow (Friday) at the DGSFC container from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Tournament fees: $75 for adults and $50 for children. Tournament starts at 6am, lines in at 4pm and boats to be back by 5pm then, the weigh-in and prize giving.
