The Army rugby team yesterday received a timely $7500 sponsorship at the RFMF Headquarters Joint Task Force Command at Black Rock Camp in Nadi from Subrail’s Furniture Centre Limited in their bid to wrestle the prestigious Sukuna Bowl from Police next week.

Sales and marketing manager, Jashwindar Singh said the cheque reflect their deep appreciation for the dedication and spirit exhibited by the team in their 34th annual clash.

“The Sukuna Bowl exemplifies not only athletic prowess but also the values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience that mirror the essence of our armed forces,” Singh said.

“As we hand over this cheque, let it be a symbol of our admiration for the hard work and commitment that each member of the team embodies.”

Singh said sports, much like the Sukuna Bowl teaches the importance of collaboration and perseverance.

“Through this contribution, we aim to support such team in their pursuit of excellence on the field, just as they strive for excellence in their service to our nation,” he said.

“To the RFMF and the team, thank you for being a source of inspiration, and may this cheque pave the way for even greater achievements on and off the field.”

Army team manager, Major Ana Vuniwaqa said SFLC stepped in at a right time.

“We are truly appreciative of Subrails. We are grateful that they stepped in time, a week before the Sukuna Bowl,” Vuniwaqa said.

“They have been sponsoring the army team for a number of years. We understand that a lot of businesses have a lot of engagements for the team preparing for the South Pacific Games and for them to still have time to share what they have with the army rugby team is something we are grateful for.”

She said they were fortunate to have the services of head coach, Cohan Politini who has been running the show since Day 1.

“We are trying our boys to adapt to the heat that is here at the west. Our very first game was at Churchill Park. After three games they have adapted to the weather here,” she said.
