Association Sportive Central Sport (AS Central Sport) team president Eugène Haereraaroa believes that Lautoka would be tough to beat at home.

The champion Tahiti club quietly slipped into the country last Saturday to allow them to acclimatise to the hot weather.

“We heard Fiji is hot so we came to prepare the boys well before competition starts on Sunday,” he said.

“We say Lautoka is tough because they played in the final last season against Team Wellington. They’re a good team and they also have the home advantage.”

Haereraaroa said playing Nadi in a friendly match yesterday gave them the needed edge ahead for the competition. The side boasts of Sylvain Graglia a French-born Tahitian footballer who plays at striker. Other top players include Fred Tissot, Lorenzo Tehau, Teheivarii Ludivion, Michael Roche, Stephare Faatiarau, Matatia Paama, Manuari Hauata and two Chilean imports Diego Araneda and Gaetan Sanchez. Meanwhile, last night they played to a 1-1 draw against Jack’s Nadi at a wet Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Nadi welcomed the return of striker Rusiate Matererega to boost their Vodafone Premier League campaign.
