Ba Pro Brace For Semi-Final

Expect a sellout at Prince Charles Park this Satuday for a historic occasion in the Vodafone Deans’ semi-final debutant, Ba Provincial Free Bird Institute Secondary School Under -18.

The school had hoisted the U19 trophy in 2019, for the first time this year the school has advanced to the semi-final after beating Nas­inu Secondary School 12-5 at the HFC Bank Stadium last Saturday.

Ba Pro is not taking Marist Broth­ers High School lightly, as they are out to improve ing to SUNSports soon after their victory against NSS, assistant coach Peniona Ra­nitu said the team will be working on their ruck and defense at train­ing this week.

“This is the first time we are go­ing to play in the national Deans semi-finals, we have to lift our per­formance,” Ranitu said.

“We are getting ourselves organ­ised for this weekend’s match be­cause we know it won’t be easy.

“This week’s training we will toughen up on our aggressiveness in the forwards and our defense in the back line.”

He added that they will prepare well to give a good game to MBHS in their semi-final clash this Satur­day.

“We won the U19 grade in 2019 but this is the first time we are into the U18 semi-final, this is history and a new level for us” he said.

“We’ve been preparing well for the Deans; it has been a lot of hard work, commitment and sacrifice both by the team and the coaching staff.

“We have four boys from our start­ing lineup that have been selected in the Fiji U18 school boy’s side but we got that covered.

“We hope that their replacements will rise to the occasion against Marist.

“It was a tough game against Nas­inu and we knew it was going to be down to the wire.

“We tried to put together a game plan to try and beat Nasinu in the quarterfinals and it worked.”
