Banana Cup Clash Has Lifted Bowling Standard, Says President

Last night Tamavua men’s pair of Semesa Naiseruvatu and Rajnesh Prasad became the Aditiya Auto Winches Banana Cup men’s champion.

The women’s pair of Litia Tikoisuva and Doreen O’Connor took out top honours.

The Aditya’s Auto Winches sponsored Banana Cup 2020 competition has moved to a higher level, says a senior official.

Speaking to SUNports Suva Bowling Club president Samuela Tuikiliga said the competition was a good one.

“The competition has been good and tough over the two days and to see some very good bowlers in action is indeed a big relief,” he said.

“The Banana Cup is always exciting every year and this year it has gone up a notch especially with one of the top teams missing out in the playoffs.”

Rain did not deter the 60 bowlers that played in the two-day tournament.

“We are delighted to see a good turnout even though we are following all Government’s restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All the bowlers came with the intention to win but only one would take home the Banana Cup.

“I would like to thank our sponsors Aditya’s Auto Winches.

“We are very grateful that they have come in along with our co-sponsors Fiji Gas to support the Banana Cup tournament.”
