We have to build our fitness if we want to apply pressure on and off the ball, says Lautoka head coach Aginesh Prasad.
He identified this area after his side beat Nasinu 3-1 in their Digicel Premier League clash on Sunday.
He said they need to work on their fitness if they are to be competitive.
“We are likely to face Nadroga in the next round,” Prasad said.
“One of the areas that we will work on is applying pressure on and off the ball. We will have to work hard when we don’t have the ball.
“By applying pressure we are closing down their attacking space and denying them possession.
“When we have the ball we build on our pressure.
“Fitness will be one of the key factors as well because some of the players still needs improvement in that area.
“We will analyse the players individually and gauge them on what we have gathered.”
He added that their win against Nasinu have set the platform for them to make their mark in the competition.
“We are happy to finally come out and play football. To be away from football for six weeks and to return with a win is a bonus.
“Good to have the experienced players back in the team because they bring a lot of football knowledge. It was great to introduce some young players because Lautoka FC is also focused on developing players.
“These players were impressive and they stepped up when our national reps were away in Qatar.
“In weeks to come there will be more youth players that will be introduced to the Digicel Premier League games.”
