Bodybuilding couple Jordan Pillay and Jamie Lee Mitchell are participating in the IFBB (International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation) Jay Cutler Dessert Classic at South Pointe Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas on March 30.

The couple are the first from Fiji to compete at the Bodybuilding event.

“We were invited last year to compete, and this competition has been running for 15 years,” Lee said.

The organiser Jay Cutler is a well-known body builder worldwide and Jordan will be competing in the men’s Open Classic physique category. Steve Weinberger is one of the head judges at this competition.

Top judge

According to Lee, Weinberger doesn’t go to every competition worldwide as he is also the head judge at the Olympia which often held in Vega.

“We’re honoured to be standing in front of him (Weinberger) and showcasing our physique as he’s never seen Fijian athletes.”

The couple is eager to showcase their physique achieved with local equipment and nutrition.

“We were each put on an individual strict diet plan and training regimen which we’ve been following diligently for the past 15 weeks,” she said.

“We haven’t cheated on our diet, missed training and everything been going good as it’s been the best prep for the both of us.”

Gain knowledge

They hope to gain knowledge from the Jay Cutler Dessert Classic; with the opportunity on the Olympia stage on their bucket list.

“I would like to thank our friends and families who have been backing us up as it hasn’t been an easy journey,” she said.

“We have a few cooking shows with our sponsors that will air on television to teach people to eat healthy on a budget.”

Support

The duo acknowledges their sponsors FMF Foods Limited and Shop N Save in funding their trip to the US.

“We were not allowed to disclose the amount by both sponsors,” she said.

They fly out today to link up with their coach at Las Vegas and get a three-week advance preparation before the competition on March 30.
