Chand Gets U16 Best Award

Sabeto Secondary School student Nimesh Chand was awarded the best player during the Nadi Football Association Under-16 Awards.

Nadi FA executives organised a celebration for the team at the Roti Corner in Nadi on Wednesday.

Chand, a Year 11 student, plays striker for his team.

The side won the Vodafone Western Youth playoff with a victory over Ba last month.

Chand said: “I scored two goals during the season and I’m very proud to receive the award. My aim is to join a Super Premier division club or the Nadi Football team.

I know a lot of effort is required to and I’m prepared to work towards it.”

“ There have been a lot of players who have achieve that and there is nothing impossible to me.”

“If they can do it I can even do it better than them.”

He started his football career during his days at the Sabeto Central School.

Team captain and midfielder Farhan Ali (Sangam SKM College) was awarded the most improved player.

Petero Varo (Nadi Muslim College) was awarded the best goalkeeper award.

Nadi FA president Ashwan Singh told the players that discipline was key toprogress.

“The boys should not stop training during the festive season as many boys will be representing Nadi U19 come 2021,” he said.

He thanked the Coach Pratik Kumar and Neil Narayan for winning the U16 western zone title for the very first time.

Nadi U16 side beat Ba U16 in a penalty shootout at the Fiji FA Academy grounds, Ba.
