Fiji’s reps Women’s FIDE Master (WFM) Kieran Lyons, Candidate Master (CM) Taione Sikivou, Provisional Women’s Candidate Master (WCM) Tanvi Prasad, Yash Maharaj and Ryan Lyons completed a decent outing in the 2023 Oceania Zonal Chess Championship in Melbourne, Australia.

Members of Team Fiji were boosted by uniforms and jackets from the unit led by Vodafone Fiji manager public relations Fozia Muktar and marketing specialist Anabelle Chand.

WFM Kieran Lyons finished among the top 15 women in a field of 43 players from Australia, New Zealand, Guam and Fiji. She defeated Sophie Davis (AU), Charlotte Ray (New Zealand), Elizaveta Gratchev (Australia), Sibelle Sulia Van (Australia) and Katherine Pan (Australia) to tally 5/9.
