Eileen Cikamatana of Australia has won the gold medal in comfortable fashion and might be the only Commonwealth Games champion to win gold for two separate nations.

Cikamatana had represented Fiji in 2018 where she won the women’s under-90kg title, before a dispute between two governing bodies claiming to lead weightlifting led to her defecting to Australia.

She lifted in the women’s 87kg.

She sets a Games record of 110kg in the snatch, 145kg in the clean and jerk, and 255kg in total for another Games record.

Kristel Ngarlem of Canada wins silver, with Mary Taiwo Osijo of Nigeria placing third.
