Coke Games 2019: Lisa Follows Shawntell’s Footsteps

Fourteen-year-old Lisa Lockington of Xavier College of Ba won her first gold medal in the junior girl’s high jump event during Day 1 of the Coca-Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.
The younger sister of current record holder Shawntell Lockington is overwhelmed to have followed the footsteps of her older sister.
She recorded a jump of 1.43 metres followed by Yvonne Nalewabau of Adi Cakobau School and Elizabeth Joy of Labasa College who both recorded 1.42m.
Lockington told SUNsports that she was confident of winning gold in the event.
“I came prepared to win,” she said.
“I’m thankful to my coach for encouraging me to always train harder. “This is also my first year competing at the Coke Games and look forward to improving my performance in the coming years.
“I want to follow my older sister’s footsteps (Shawntell) and represent the national side as well. “
