Coke Games 2019: Mateo Banks on Hard Work
The Qamea, Taveuni native dedicated her win to her loved ones and team-mates.

Hard work and commitment paid off for Adi Cakobau School’s Veronika Mateo as she won a gold medal in the intermediate girl’s triple jump event during Day 1 of the Coca-Cola Games.
Mateo jumped 11.11 metres while Mereseini Waqatoki of Suva Grammar School came second with 10.87m followed by Avelina Navue of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School with 10.82m.
The Qamea, Taveuni native dedicated her win to her loved ones and team-mates.

“I think it was the continuous hard work and commitment which led to the win,” Mateo said
“This is also my first ever gold medal in the Coke games as last year I settled for silver in this event. Winning gold this year feels amazing.”
