Defending Coca-Cola Games senior girls 100 metres champion Serenia Ragatu is on a mission.

The former Adi Cakobau School sprint queen now attends Immaculate Conception College in Bua and yesterday she won the Bua Zone’s 100m final with a time of 12.64 seconds.

Speaking to SUNsports, Ragatu said she wants to become the first athlete from a Vanua Levu school to win the senior girl’s 100m final at the Coca-Cola Games.

She said her time of 12.64s was not good as there was no competition but she said her time would improve at the Coca-Cola Games.

Last year she won the blue ribbon event while at Adi Cakobau School.

However, this year she has decided to go back to Bua to attend Immaculate Conception College.

She has challenged all senior girls around the country for the blue ribbon’s gold medal.

“I won it last year and I’ll win it again this year.” she added.

Ragatu indicated that she is following her training programme and likewise keeping up with her diet.

Today she will be running in the 200m final and the 4x100m relay.

He coach Isireli Veitube said he believes Ragatu is surely going to win this year’s senior girl’s blue ribbon event again.

When asked about her training schedule, Veitube says, he had prepared one for her and she is strictly followed it.

He said Ragatu was a faithful and dedicated athlete. Ragatu hails from Driti village in the district of Dama in Bua.
