Company Steps In To Help Club

Lautoka’s Vakatora (VT) Bears team received a major boost on their preparation for the Nadi Touch Rugby Championship that gets underway at the end of the month.

Promex Consulting Limited director Lawrence Kumar presented the team with their playing kits on Thursday.

Kumar said, being a Western based- company, they are proud to support the club.

“This sponsorship from our company would ensure that our youths are well-equipped and have the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability,” Kumar said.

“Our company has been assisting various youth teams in our communities.”

The club was established last year and they have an Under-15, women’s, mixed and Open men’s teams.

Club founder Josevata Davui said the players are from Vakatora Housing and Takavuci settlement.

“We are blessed to get Promex on board as we have been knocking on the doors of business houses,” he said.

They are among the four newly established teams based in the Sugar City but are registered with the Nadi Touch Rugby Association.

“We made our debut last month in a one-day tournament, Back in Touch, hosted by the Nadi Touch Rugby Association in which we reached the semi-finals,” he added.

Former national touch rugby rep Peni Veitogavi, is their current coach.

Davui added that majority of the players are part of the Batiri club that play under the Lautoka Rugby Union club competition.
