Defending Vodafone Deans Trophy champions Marist Brothers High School suffered a 30-10 loss to Nasinu Secondary School in the second round of the Southern Zone Under-18 competition in Suva on Saturday. Last year’s losing U18 finalists Suva Grammar School’s campaign remained on track as they walloped Gospel High School 22-0.

On the brighter spot, the MBHS U17 rugby side proved too strong for Ratu Sukuna Memorial School by winning 10-0 win at the MBHS ground in Flagstaff, Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports, MBHS U17 coach Viliame Bulivakarua said he was thankful for the win and praised RSMS for playing well.

“We didn’t play most of our patterns and we need to improve on our set piece especially our line-outs,” he said.

Bulivakarua said they also need to work on their ball handing and passing.

“So far, I’m proud as most of the players played for the first time for the school’s Under-17 team,” he said.

“We are thankful to the parents for their support week in and week out. They provided everything for us financially and this win is for them,” he added.
