President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote reminded the Fiji team to do their country proud at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi on March 14-21.

The Fijian contingent presented their i-tatau (Fijian traditional farewell) to President Kon­rote at Government House yesterday.

“The whole nation will be watching you with great interest,”he said.

“You will send the message to every village and every city and that is the message of hope and victory.

“Your hard work and sacrifices has no doubt paid off, in making the cut as a special athlete who will represent our nation.

“In fact it is the ideal and rewarding opportu­nity of a lifetime and you should be very satis­fied and equally proud with such an achieve­ment.

“I want to congratulate you for your persever­ance and hard work to be selected in our na­tional team.”Goundar proud
