Fiji Airways Fijiana forward, Sesenieli Donu was named in the Dubai 7s women’s Dream Team last weekend.
And it was a pleasant surprise for the Vatukarasa, Nadroga native who was among five debutants for the HSBC sevens series.
Donu’s first international outing was at the Oceania 7s in June two weeks before they won bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
She was also one of the top five players on the women’s DHL impact player in the first leg of the Dubai 7s with four tackles, three line breaks, two offloads and eight carries.
“I was really surprised to see it,” Donu said.
“This means so much to me and it is also my first HSBC 7s series and making a debut; it was all overwhelming but I got through it.
“I couldn’t be more proud of myself.
“But firstly God has played a big part of my life throughout this journey of rugby.
“I want thank Him for always giving me the strength and protection that I need every time I play.
“He made it possible for me to have reached where I am now. I am so happy and proud of myself for what I have achieved after this series.”
