Queen Victoria first 15 fullback, Mikaele Vueti, for the Fiji Secondary Schools Deans competition scored a double yesterday.
Vueti, 18, passed his Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination (FY12CE) and had his visa stamped for his one-year sports scholarship in New Zealand.
He was emotional because the journey was not easy.
"Balancing academic and participating in extra curricular activities was a challenge when you are at a boarding school," the Nacamaki, Lomaiviti youth said.
"Today marks a special day in my life.
"I passed my Form Six exam and New Zealand visa approved for a scholarship to play and study there.
"During the Dean's competition, I went off track from schoolwork.

"I focused on training in preparation on the build-up to the Deans quarter final.
"In Term Three, I pulled up my socks and concentrated on my school work and I passed with 277 marks.
"Words of inspiration from my parents have always motivated me to balance sports and academic.
"The momentum on the field and excel in academic must be balanced."
The teenager was labelled by spectators in last year's Deans competition as "the man to watch".
This year, the youngster is ready to take on a new journey at Hamilton Boys in New Zealand.
