The 2022 Pacific Energy Quarter Mile drag race season will start on March 6.

Sponsors Pacific Energy has ramped up their sponsorship with a $3500 prizemoney to the winning team and $1500 to the runners-up.

This was confirmed to SUNsports by Fiji Motor Association president Raizal Haniff.

“Last season more than 61 cars turned-up and there were about 500 specta¬tors,” he said.

“We started slow but when the competition went on more cars joined the race.

“The race will still happen at the Nanuku Airstrip in Deuba, Navua and we are expecting an exciting 2022 season ahead of us.

“This year’s Pacific Energy quarter mile drag race will feature some top racing cars in the country and we will also include new categories in the race.

“We were really happy with last season’s race and we hope to get better this season around.

“This season we are expecting a lot of new cars to join the weekly competition.”

Haniff added that Pacific Energy’s sponsorship has been a big boost for the sport.

“It is still called the Pacific Energey quarter mile drag race because they’ve renewed their sponsorship with us for this year.

“We thank Pacific Energy for their never ending support to Fiji Motor Association.

“Their sponsorship brings good fortune and great news for the Fiji Motor Association, the teams and the drivers that come out to compete on Sundays.”
