The 2022 Pacific Energy Quarter Mile drag race season will start in March.
This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by Fiji Car Club president Raizal Haniff during the last race of the 2021 season at the Nanuku Airstrip in Pacific Harbour, Deuba.
Sixty one (61) cars turned up and there were about 500 spectators. Haniff said they were happy with the 2021 season.
“We need to first conduct our AGM (annual general meeting),” he said.
“We’re planning to start the next season in March.
“What will do is try and have one race a month so this will allow drivers to get a lot of rest and teams can modify their cars.
“There will be more time for drivers and teams to work on their cars.
“We are happy to have done four races after the COVID-19 lockdown.
“We had expected to do three but ended up with four which is the last one of the season.
“We had 61 cars for the race and for us anything over 50 is a good number,” he added.
