Ex-Fiji Reps Boost Easter-Champs

Former national reps Iowane Na­ivalurua, Samisoni Vugakoto, and William Cati will spearhead the Legends side during the Easter Champi­onship in Nadi this weekend.

The championship will be hosted by the Nadi Basketball Association at the Fiji Airports hardcourt in Namaka.

Vugakoto plays at power forward while Naivalurua and Cati pairs at the centre.

Also in the fold are former national Un­der-23 rep John Ravitu.

The event has drawn few teams from the capital city as well.

Legends team captain Cati said: “We are looking forward to the championship. We are not only playing but we intend to im­part knowledge of the game to the upcom­ing players.

“It is great to play against future players especially our counterparts from Suva.”

Meanwhile, unbeaten after six games in the Summer League, Team Spartans is a team to beat.

In second spot with five wins is Team Falcons. There are nine men’s and five women’s teams competing in the weekly competition.

Team Hotshots lead the women comp with four wins out of six matches ahead of Royal who had one loss so far.

Week 5 results:

Men: Trojans wbd Harlequins, Mamba 26- 57 Falcons, Freebird 9-62 Spartans, Falcons 47-13 Legends, Freebird 37-46 Tro­jans, Cardinals 14-37 Mamba, Kings 15 -31 Trojans.

Women: Royals 15-21 Kahihi, Hotshots 28 – 18 Ladyjets.
