The Fiji Secondary Schools girls football champions are putting their football jerseys aside for rugby.
This year they have registered to play in the inaugural Weet-Bix Raluve school girls’ competition.
The Raluve competition is the rugby union competition for secondary school girls; there are two categories: Under 16 and Under- 18.
The new competition was launched last month at the Fiji Rugby Union House.
AD Patel while registering an Under -16 team are hopeful that they will reach the national quarterfinals.
They won by default against Ra High School in Round One last Saturday.
Ra High School presented incomplete identification without the principal’s signature.
Head coach Esala Tokaseu said this was a new beginning for the Ba school.
“These girls are driven by watching the Fijiana 7s, Fijiana Drua as well as the Kulas,” Tokaseu said.
“We only played football before and this is something new to them,” he said.
“Our goal is to reach the national quarter-finals.
“This is great pathway for them after the Ba provincial team had a women’s team in the Royal Tea Marama Cup.”
