Ex-Football Stars Shine In Golf

The ninth consecutive two men 18 holes stroke Ambrose event sponsored by Pillay’s Auto World had new champions crowned at the Lautoka Golf course last Saturday.

Despite the light drizzle, former national football stars Dennis Singh and Maika Kasami become a major threat to Lautoka Golf Club seasoned members.

The pair netted a solid 60.75 to emerge as outright champions.

LGC captain James Krishna rubbed shoulders with South Seas Club snooker player, Papi Singh to easily account for second spot on 62.25.

New pair Reginal Ram and Daven Mudaliar accounted for third place on 62.5, relegating veteran Gaffar Ali and Mohammed Shariff to fourth on a countback.

Brothers Praveen and Bobby Reddy claimed NTP (nearest to pin) on the second and ninth holes respectively.

Sharif hit the longest drive on the third hole.

Natabua High School student Roland Singh was declared the junior champion.

LGC chairman of Trustees Raymond Singh thanked sponsors Karuna Pillay of Pillay’s Auto World for sponsoring the ninth edition of the Ambrose event.
