The 2022 Coca-Cola Games sprint king Inoke Waisale of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School is grateful for securing a scholarship in Neosho Community College, Kansas in the United States of America.

“I thank the Lord for opening doors for me, my coaches for believing in me, and my parents as well for raising me as an athlete,” Waisale said.

He said his parents were grateful when they heard the news that he had secured a scholarship to study in the United States.

“They told me to do my best in academic work and also my training at the Neosho Community College,” he said.

“My message to my peers and upcoming athletes is to focus on their goals, do their best and never let their hopes down.”

Waisale hopes to represent Fiji at the Honiara Pacific Games, but he is unsure as he’ll be in the US when the Pacific Games get underway in November.

“I don’t know if I’ll represent Fiji, maybe the board members of Athletics Fiji can write a letter to them so they can release me for the Pacific Games," he said.

Waisale said he will leave for Neosho next month along with 800-metre runner Vilorina Naibena of Namosi Secondary School.
