Former Manchester United defender Wesley Michael Brown (Wes Brown) has replaced Harry Kewell as the guest speaker in the Vodafone Fiji Football Association Awards Night at the Pullaman Nadi Bay Resort this Saturday.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the FIFA Legends Club has advised them of the late change.
“Harry Kewell is not coming due to his personal fears about the current situation regarding coronavirus,” said Patel.
“As the result the club has managed to get Wes Brown as our guest speaker.”
He said they are grateful to the FIFA Legends Club spokesperson Stefanie Krisch for getting Brown as the replacement.
Patel indicated that Brown is very much in love with the Pacific Islands and is happy to be the guest speakers.
“He has been to Tahiti in 2019 through the FIFA Legends Club and managed to change his very busy schedule to make time for Fiji.”

Brown was born on October 13, 1979. He is an English professional footballer who last played as a defender for Indian club Kerala Blasters.
He began his career with Manchester United, joining the club’s academy at the age of 12 in 1992. After turning professional in 1996, he made his senior debut in 1998 and became a semi regular first team player during the 1998–99 season, when the club won the Treble.
Over the next eight years, Brown won numerous honours, including four more Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and another Champions League.
Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that Brown is “without question the best natural defender the club has had for years”.
Brown earned his first England cap in 1999 and was selected to play at the 2002 World Cup. He played in the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers but England failed to progress to the final tournament.
He scored his first international goal in 2008 against the Czech Republic. Brown announced his retirement from international football on August 8, 2010, just a day after being recalled to the England squad by Fabio Capello.
Brown was notably part of the England squad at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
