Ex-Track King Stars In Nailaga Side

The Jone Lawei coached Sydney Nailaga 7s side has roped in for­mer Natabua High School 400 meters specialist Pita Tuvusa to boost their participation in the 46 th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s at the ANZ Stadium in Suva which gets underway this week­end.

The Jone Lawei coached Sydney Nailaga 7s side has roped in for­mer Natabua High School 400 meters specialist Pita Tuvusa to boost their participation in the 46 th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s at the ANZ Stadium in Suva which gets underway this week­end.

Also in the side is Ba XV rugby captain Paulo Ralulu, speedsters Pauliasi Kuli and Eroni Waqabaca.

Captain is ex-Sila Central sprinter Wai­sake Raselala who will be backed up by Viliame Senileba, Panapasa Naisau, Solo Druku, Tesoni Nabuta, Vakota Bainiva­lu, Setareki Ravato and the versatile Ben Dakai.

Team manager Solomone Naisau said the side has been preparing for the mec­ca of local sevens since the start of this year.

“We have been in competitions week in and week out,” Naisau said.

“That has been helping us with our game time which is important heading into the tournament.

“We have few sponsors, they have as­sisted us our participating in the sevens tournaments; these have been helping us play against top teams,” he said.

After their scrimmaging session with the Sorokoba 7s team at the Matavelo ground in Nailaga, Ba on Monday the players were elated with how they had performed.

“This was a good, while we worked on improving on some crucial areas, there were a few key areas we still need to work on,” he said.

The side travels to Suva later today; they are in White Pool L with Kombat Uluinakau, Caucau Rugby and Saunaka.
