Another phase of tourism-related developments on Nadi’s Fantasy Island is expected to be completed at the end of August.

Owner and managing director Abbas Ali said the project investment is about $2.5 million, which would allow ferry boat operators to operate from that part of the marina.

The project, which includes moorings, will complement the existing event centre.

This will have an existing passenger terminal and building for office spaces. It will have a restaurant, coffee shop, pizza and bar lounge.

“The project we are working on right now is the small boat, moorings, and jetty operation,” Mr Ali said.

“There will be pontoons where people can operate their ferry boats. That will be ready by the end of August and be operational by then.”

He said there would also be small boat moorings, which would be part of the marina projects, to complete the existing industrial marina, and the commercial marina, which would mainly be for the tourism sector.

“These projects we are doing now are in the tourism section of our marina,” Mr Ali said.

He added that the company, to date, has invested $96 million into the Fantasy Island development project since its inception.

Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) chief executive officer Joeli Cawaki said his office was collaborating well with the respective marina owners in the country, including Fantasy Island.
