Fiji Airways Fijian 7s playmaker Waisea Nacuqu is still coming to terms of the fact that he will not be playing in this weekend’s Canada 7s in Vancouver.

Nursing a fractured collarbone, Nacuqu told SUNsports at Nadi International Airport yesterday that he did not see Australian 7s captain Lewis Holland, who had gone behind him to make that illegal high tackle.

“I wanted to keep that ball but I did not see that guy’s tackle because he came from behind,” Nacuqu said as Holland copped a three-match ban for the incident.

“Well it is too late to change that. I had wanted to score but will now have to wait for another year for Vegas.”

The Votua, Ba native is sad to be away from the team as they are in the crucial stage of the series.

“I still cannot believe that I will miss this weekend’s Vancouver 7s. It’s a pity and I’m really sad.”

Nacuqu said although he won’t be in Vancouver, he wished the team well.

“I hope that fans in Fiji will continue to support the team in their quest to defend the title.”

Nacuqu, said, he would be out for six weeks.

“If I don’t recover on time then I might miss the remainder of the series.”

The Gareth Baber- coached side had arrived in Vancouver on Monday night, as they kept a low profile in their preparation to defend the Canada 7s title at the BC Place Stadium this weekend.
