The Fiji Sun decided to end its sponsorship agreement with Fiji Football Association and terminated it early under the provisions of the contract.
Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas said yesterday this needed to be clarified because of fake claims being circulated on social media.
He said: : "We made a business decision to end our Fiji Football Association sponsorship. We hold no ill will towards Fiji Football. Our sports journalists will continue to cover football fully.
“Our decision was a purely business decision involving our commercial relationship with the Fiji Football Association. . Unfortunately, we now need to explain the circumstances. This is because of the rubbish being circulated saying Fiji Football terminated our deal because they preferred the Fiji Times.
“Not true. Just more Fake News from the anti-mob.”
