The Digicel Fiji Under-19 football side has booked a spot in Saturday’s OFC Women’s U19 Championship final. The Angeline Chua-coached side beat Samoa 3-1 in the first semifinal at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
The Fijians took the lead in the 44th minute when a blunder by the Samoan goalkeeper saw Sonia Alfred tapped in the opening goal.
With classy midfielders Adi Bakaniceva and Priya Singh dictating play they kept the visitors under a lot pressure.
And in the 48th minute a cross from Pijila Kilaiwaca found Timaima Ana to slam in the second goal for a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Samoa tried to make a comeback towards the end of the match when Arienna Skeers scored from a penalty kick.
Bakaniceva was named the Player of the Match. The second semifinal between New Zealand and Cook Islands was underway when this edition went to press last night.
