A disastrous performance by the Fiji Airways Fijiana women’s rugby sevens side saw them suffer a 12-5 loss in the pool opener to minnows Brazil.
The Fijiana senior players of Reijeli Daveua, Ana Maria Naimasi and Lavena Cavuru looked lost in the encounter as the Brazilians bullied their way through.
Weak defence, poor handling skills and their lack of ability to play smart were the team’s downfall.
They trailed 7-0 at halftime and managed a last-minute unconverted try to Meredani Qoro.
