Fiji Airways Fijiana XV loosie forward Laisa Taga is one of our frontline heroes. Taga is a nurse by profession and is on one of the teams tackling the COVID - 19 crisis.
She spoke to FRU Media, on how she is handling work and training as she eyes to play in next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
FRU: How’s everything been for you in the past few weeks?
TAGA: Well, it’s been great actually just longer working hours. That is 12-hour shifts so basically if I’m doing morning by the time I knock-off it’s during curfew hours, so my life has simply been around home and work.
FRU: How are you maintaining your fitness?
TAGA: To be really honest I work out on my days off mostly running. It can an be hill runs or just a circuit.
If I’m on night shift, which starts at 7pm to 7am, I try to do some sort of physical activity before that time.
FRU: What are some new things you’ve been trying out?
TAGA: Not much actually because I work 12 hours per day. On my days off I get to help out more at home
FRU: What do you usually do to keep you entertained?
TAGA: I love to watch Netflix, train and I’m a big foodie, so yes eating.
FRU: Any book you’re enjoying right now?
TAGA: That would be the Bible.
FRU: Movies or Series you’re been watching?
TAGA: Yes binging on Legacies. Bloodshot, Riverdale, Coffee and Kareem and many more.
FRU: What’s your best social media challenge right now?
TAGA: My best challenge would be the push-ups, I do it but I don’t like filming it.
FRU: How does it feel to be away from the field and your teammates?
TAGA: Oh it’s hard. I miss my team-mates and running on the field because it’s not only a sport but it helps keep me relieved from stress as well.
It’s the best time to do personal work on for instance speed endurance diet
FRU: First thing you’ll do when all this is over?
TAGA: First thing I would do is attend a team training session or have a feed with my team mates.
