The FIJI Water Flying Fijians' one week camp at Welagi, Taveuni, has not only impacted lives but will have many positive rippling effects on all youths in Taveuni.

The national squad is in camp in preparation for the July Tests against Tonga and Samoa; and World Rugby Cup in France in September. Welagi sevens tournament official Oni Cokanauto with two days left yesterday before head coach Simon Raiwalui and his band of players return to Suva, said that those from as far as Vuna and Lavena have been flocking to Welagi every day to catch a glimpse of the Flying Fijians.

"And the obvious is clear between a professional player and one who just moves with the flow, plays club rugby smoke the suki, cigarette, drink grog to the wee hours of the following day and accept that as routine," Cokanauto said.

"First thing is their (Flying Fijians) psyche, their lean bodies, discipline and attitude towards training, and playing.

"The only Flying Fijian from Welagi is Bill Gadolo, now all the youths and children want to be a Flying Fijian.

"We have been running the Welagi 7s for some years now and to now have the full national squad here with their weights, training equipment and whole works is an eye opener to us.
