One of the pioneers of women rugby in the country is now the new Rugby Director with the Fiji Rugby Union.

Naulivou's appointment was announced today by FRU board chairman John Sanday. She takes over from Conway Begg who tendered in his resignation two weeks ago.

She was nominated by the Nasinu and Namosi Rugby Union during FRU's Annual General Meeting last November.

"I welcome Laijipa," Sanday said.

"I had a great working relationship with Laijipa."

She is also the first Fijiana captain.

Naulivou said rugby is not new to her.

Sanday also confirmed Etu Tuqota's appointment as FRU board secretary.
