Four Teams Equal Defending Champ’s Stance

Defending champions Lautoka hammered Topline/Banaras 6-0 in the first quarter-final of the TIV Sangam Inter-District Championship at the Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.

Defending champions Lau­toka hammered Topline/Banaras 6-0 in the first quarter-final of the TIV Sangam Inter-District Championship at the Churchill Park in Lautoka yester­day.

The goals came from Raj Pillay, national rep Muni Shivan Naidu, Edward Naicker, Mark Riteshwar, Avneel Nand, and Samuela Gavo.

In the other quarter-final battle, 2019 runner up All Freights Logis­tics sponsored Nadi side trounced Vitogo 3-0.

Nadi’s goals were scored by cap­tain Rahul Krishna (2) and Surje­shan Sami to keep their hopes alive.

Other notable players in the team include Krishan Sami, and Shivneel Pillay.

Varoka laced with district reps Shamil Rao and Jashnil Kumar (Rewa) beat Namaka 4-2.

Nasinu edged Nacovi 2-1, Rewa beat Nadroga 6-5, Navua beat Dreketi/Saweni 3-0.

Suva have the services of Sahil Dave, Nathan Kumar, Madhwan Gounder and Jonas Naceva.

Tournament coordinator Shivneel Narayan said prior to the quarter­finals, defending champion Lau­toka, Nadi, Varoka, Navua, and Ri­fle Range all have three wins from their respective pool games.

Also unbeaten are Nadroga and Nasinu who have seven points from two wins and a draw.

In the Masters category, Malolo beat Lautoka 1-0 and Nadroga beat Lovu 1-0.

The competition ends today.
