Nadi football coach Kamal Swamy praised his young players after their superb performance in their 3-0 win over Tailevu/Naitasiri at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Swamy told SUNsports that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

“It was a good win but again, we must realise that we played against Rewa and Suva where we were winning, but unfortunately we lost in the last 20 minutes,” he said.

“Now we could see the difference in the last 20 minutes, which was positive if we would have done that then we would have been right on top.

“So we need to thank these young boys who are just learning, step-by-step from every game and I think the future is bright. We are a team to be reckoned with.”

In the 15th minute Vuinuci Tikoimereke slotted in Nadi’s opening goal before midfielder Tuiba Batiratu made it 2-0 in the 28th minute.

With a handy 2-0 lead at halftime, Nadi came out firing in the second spell with Pauliasi Tuilivou slamming in the third goal.

Tailevu/Naitasiri assistant coach, Priyant Mannu was disappointed with the players’ performance.

“It was not the performance that we expected from the boys.

“We came here with a good momentum after a good performance last week in Lautoka. We needed to build on that but unfortunately some of our boys let us down,” Manu said.

“It is a good learning point for us. We have to build on it and next week we have to play against Ba.

“We have to work very hard if we have to win against Ba. This kind of performance won’t get us anywhere.”

Manu added their aim was to win the DFPL.

“Although we have qualified for the Fiji FACT, I think the boys have slackened down but the league is still more important than Fiji FACT.

“We have to do a lot of soul searching before playing Ba.”
