Gau Secondary School Back After 10 Years
$4000 - The amount the school had to fundraise for the trip to compete in the secondary school netball finals

Gau Secondary School is back in the Punjas Digicel Fiji Secondary School Netball Finals with a mission after being away from the competition the last 10 years.
Team manageress Tarisi Kurisalili said the two teams (Under 17 and Open) have been training at the only hard court on the island to familiarise themselves.
It has not been easy sailing for the maritime school with limited facilities and challenges.
“We had two months to raise $4000 for this trip and we resorted to all sorts of fundraising drives while we made sure that the players prepared well for this annual event,” Kurusalili said.
“We had fundraisings organised by the teachers and all the villages were part of them and we are grateful to their support.”
Yesterday the Gau school netters had a narrow loss 6 – 8 against a tough Adi Cakobau School team in their first open pool match.
