The Trent Irvine-captained side on board ‘Relaxin’ claimed the overall boat prize at the Denarau Game & Sports Fishing Club’s one-day competition last Saturday.
The team was recognised after they managed to tag and released a huge sailfish.
However, the top big boat prize went to ‘La Moana’ and the small category was won by ‘Fruit Loop.’
The organisers feel the tournament could serve as an attractive calling for fishing enthusiasts countrywide and hope this will entice overseas anglers to visit Fiji next year.
Denarau Game and Sports Fishing president Marc McElrath said the one-day event was a success.
“The club successfully started its 2021 season with some great results from its monthly fishing competition. 11 boats participated in the one-day event with over 37 anglers,” he said.
“The near perfect weather conditions and the abundance of yellow fin made the event a fun day for all the participants.”
