The budget allocations will be known after Fiji National Sports Commission board will have its first meeting after next week.
This was confirmed by incoming FNSC chairman, Maretino Nemani on Friday during the Community Sports Association Forum at the Harbour Point Convention Centre in Lami.
“The forum focused on governance issues and how we can help these community sports associations,” Nemani said.
“Tomorrow (today) we will be the bigger conference with national sporting bodies to discuss further on governance issues and policies which will be later presented to cabinet.
“We will await the budget from the Ministry of Youth and Sports next week before we will have the first board meeting on the following week to discuss further.”
Meanwhile, FNSC sports development manager Jioji Liga said about 50 community sports association reps from the five divisions were present at the forum.
Most of the issues raised were on challenges faced by association and ways it could be addressed by the commission.
Some of the issues were affiliation, community sports facilities and talent identification.
Acting Minister for Youth and Sports Maciu Nalumisa officially opened the forum.
