Holy Cross College (HCC) defied all odds as they secured financial support to transport their athletes to Suva for the Fiji Finals (known as the Coca-Cola Games).
This was revealed yesterday by the school’s PEMAC (Physical Education, Music, Art and Craft) teacher Menausi Vasikali.
“We managed to do some soli (offering), and all these kinds of things that we used to do just to cover for the students financially especially coming from the islands,” he said.

The Taveuni-based school’s contingent arrived in time for the Maritime Zone competition.
He said preparations are on track and the athletes are trying to familiarise themselves with the tracks and the jumping pit.
“I’m here with the jump team, so our preparation and the mindset is totally focused on this fight, so we are here leaving no stone unturned.”
Vasikali said their athletes are prepared mentally, physically and spiritually.
He said they have 37 athletes competing this year compared to 52, last year.
“From the 37 there are new athletes competing.
“We are here to learn and to expose the sub juniors since most of them are from the islands.” he said.
Vasikali added that their athletics team is looking forward to the competition, which gets underway on Thursday at the National Stadium in Suva.
